Due to growth on campus over the past 50 years the electrical distribution system and 3 substation need to upgraded to meet demand for load capacity.
The High Temperature Water upgrade is replacing old HTW lines throughout Campus. This is the 5th phase of the project replacing old inefficient lines that feed the majority of the buildings west of the Union and the new Business and Carolyn and Kem Gardner buildings. HTW supplies heat, hot water, and steam to the buildings on Campus. The new lines are much more efficient than the older lines they are replacing, should last 50+ years and have a leak detection system incorporated into the pipe to avoid costly shutdowns in the future. Project is scheduled to wrap up in the Fall of 2018.
