Meet Our Team
Chief Design and Construction Officer
Interim Director, Campus Planning
Robin joined the University of Utah team in February, 2017, where she leads planning, design and construction. She enjoys the variety, complexity and challenge of her work, and loves her very talented and hard-working team. She is a licensed architect, and her experience includes years as a practicing architect, and many more in healthcare project management and team leadership, mostly in California. She has a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Architecture from Harvard University.
Deputy Chief Design and Construction Officer
Blaine manages the Administrative Support team, assists Executive Leadership and works closely with the Building Official. He issues building permits for construction on campus, as well as permits for campus events. He began his career at the University of Utah as a Team Lead at the Campus Store, moved to the Department of Pharmacotherapy where he advanced to Grants and Contracts Officer and then eventually joined Facilities Management. In his spare time he enjoys being with family & friends, gardening, travel and exploring the great outdoors.
Associate Director, Public Relations and Communications
Shireen Ghorbani is the Associate Director of Communications and Organizational Development. Her primary responsibilities are public relations, training, and process improvement. Shireen's background is in organizational communication and education and she holds two Master’s degrees in organizational communication and policy. Shireen loves live music, podcasts, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Director, Design & Construction Support
Gary joined the University of Utah in September, 2017, where he leads the internal PD&C support personnel in standardizing business practices for PD&C PM’s and our industry partners. Support personnel include Estimating, Sustainability, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Safety managers. Gary came from California and has an extensive background in Project/Construction management in higher education and healthcare.

Director, Design & Construction
Liz has a Master’s Degree from the University of Utah in Architecture and is a licensed architect. She practiced architecture in the private sector for a couple of decades, designing and managing many projects for the University. She became a LEED Accredited Professional in 2003. She was asked to join the project management staff at the University to cover temporarily for a project manager needing emergency surgery, but liked it so much that she stayed on as a project manager for a few years. She gained a Project Management Professional (PMP) credential in 2015 and then was promoted to a leadership role, where she works to support project managers however she can in their efforts to deliver quality projects on time and on budget for their project stakeholders.
